Certified, sworn or notarized: which one do you need?
The three words are often mixed up. Here is what each one means in practice.

| Type | What it is | When it is asked |
|---|---|---|
| Certified translation | A translation with the translator’s statement that it is complete and accurate | Universities, employers, many immigration files |
| Sworn translation | Made by a translator who has taken an oath before the courts, signed and stamped | Administrations, courts and most official files in Côte d’Ivoire |
| Notarized translation | A notary certifies the translator’s signature, not the translation itself | Only some authorities; tell us and we check what is possible before you pay |

Certified translation: your questions
What is the difference between a certified and a sworn translation?
A certified translation comes with a statement that it is complete and accurate. A sworn translation is made by a translator who has taken an oath before the courts and who signs and stamps it. In Côte d’Ivoire, the sworn translation is the usual form for official files.
How much does a certified translation cost?
From 12,000 XOF per page for French and English, in either direction, and from 15,000 XOF per page for other languages. The signature and stamp are included. You get the exact price within 15 minutes.
How long does it take?
Two to three days for most documents. Large files take five days or more. If you have a deadline, tell us: we confirm it before you pay.
Will my translation be accepted by the embassy?
Our translations are signed and stamped by a sworn translator recognised in Côte d’Ivoire, and are used for visa, university and administrative files. Requirements differ from one authority to another, so tell us where the document is going and we confirm any extra requirement before you pay.
Can I order from abroad?
Yes. Send a scan or a photo by WhatsApp or email, pay by PayPal, bank transfer or mobile money, and receive the translation by email. A signed paper copy can be arranged in Abidjan.
Do you handle apostille or legalisation?
No. We provide the certified translation only. Apostille and legalisation are separate steps handled by the competent authority.
